A leading financial institution required Comsys to provide Altiris services including custom deployment including migrating profiles from existing PC to new PC’s. Comsys used Altiris PC Transplant to assist in this profile migration enabling users to login to their system the next day without noticing any changes to their Application Settings, My Documents, Favourites and Desktop Settings. Comsys then set up appropriate groups according to applications required and pushed out application packages to each system which in turn silently installed to each PC overnight. The deployment, data migration and application delivery occurred after hours, no business down time was needed, this ensured a positive experience for all users and the project sponsor. Comsys has enabled the customer to automate and reduce PC deployment time and Application Delivery from hours to literally minutes. The technology enabled Comsys to complete the project within 3 weeks.

Windows Vista is the next generation of Microsoft’s operating system. Released in January 2007 Vista is fast gaining market share in the desktop and notebook hardware space. A leading university was running outdated desktop software on its employees' computers, compromising its ability to compete effectively in today’s education sector where productivity and agility are essential. The company decided to upgrade its fleet of PC’s and requested Comsys to perform the services work. After a tendering and selection process the University selected Comsys to perform the specialised IT Services covering Vista Application Rationalisation of up to 3000 applications and Hardware Readiness and deployment of upto 8 varying PC manufacturers.

The challenge was to increase the efficiency of image provisioning and support as part of a company-wide initiative; to deploy a global infrastructure and set of standards for the automated creation and provisioning of Microsoft Windows PC’s and their applications; to optimize IT personnel resources. Comsys deployed Altiris Deployment Solution software and application packaging to support Microsoft Windows preboot environments, offer advanced automation and custom scripting, and provide the capability to perform hands-free deployments and application delivery; Comsys developed a consistent set of global standards and repeatable processes for company-wide use. New processes reduced the number of hours required to provision PC’s and Servers, providing better overall value to our customer; Altiris helped decrease provisioning time from 4 hours to 26 minutes, increasing the productivity of our customers IT staff and enabling rapid deployment of PC resources.

Microsoft Office 2007 Training; Creating a More Efficient, Connected and Positive Workforce

A merger of 15 hospitals and the need for nurses to stay connected with the various functions and departments of each hospital was the catalyst to a decision to upgrade the Microsoft Office business software. Upon the decision to upgrade Microsoft Office, the company leadership quickly recognized that product training would be a key component to provide a seamless transition to the new technology environment. In order to fully realise the potential of the product suite, the customer engaged Comsys as a training partner for the product roll-out.
